Chia seeds were used by the ancient Incans, Aztecs and Mayans as an important source of energy. But only recently became these powerful seeds, that some experts claim to be one of the healthiest food on the planet, recognized as a superfood.
Chia seeds contain more protein than most other grains, more calcium than milk, are filled with Omega-3 and are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals the body uses to protect the cells against free radicals.
Here are some tips on how you can use these powerful seeds 😊.
If you are leaving the house within 30 minutes, are not dressed yet and haven´t eaten, here is something you might want to try.
Mix together the following:
- 2-3 tbsp of chia seed
- 1-1,5 dl almond milk with vanilla
Let the mixture stand in a jar on the table for 10-15 minutes, while you get
dressed. Between getting dressed and brushing you hair, stir once in the
blend to help the seeds to absorb the almond milk better. If you do not find time to stir, it is totally fine. When you are ready, all dressed with a finely
combed hair, the mixture will be ready for you all thickened up and
delicious. You can eat it as is and get all the benefits from the seeds or
make it to a more filling meal by adding for example; bananas, berries,
fruits, nuts, seeds, raisins and/or shredded coconut. If you think the
mixture is to thick you can add more almond milk.
And for more time-saving tips: It is always smart to have a delicious
nut/seed/fruit blend ready to drissle over your salads, puddings or other food – or in a small box in your purse if you get hungry. Check out the Perfect Grap and Go Snack recipe. You can use this recipe with or without the licorice root powder.
