Are you dealing with aches, pains, having skin problems, feeling sluggish, having digestion problems or just feeling out of sync? All these and many more are symptoms that can be a sign from your body, that it might be time to clean it from the inside out.
To clean the body or detox it as we often call it, means basically to eat clean detoxifying food or drink clean detoxifying liquids for a certain period of time, give the digestion time to rest, get rid of accumulated stress in your body and detox your emotions.
By giving your digestion a rest, you not only clean your digestion and blood – the source that feeds every cells, but also other systems in the body; as the connecting tissues, the lymphatic system and your organs. By detoxifying you can protect your body from diseases and renew your ability to maintain optimum health.
Here are few ways of how to detoxify your body:
Eat clean food that nature provides. This is a detox in itself which not only helps in removing and eliminates toxins in your body, but will also help the body to relax. When you body can relax, it is easier for your mind to deal with daily stress. If you have not been eating healthy living food, this might be the best and easiest way for you to start to clean out your body. A good diet for you could be to start every morning by eating at least ½ a watermelon (or until you are satisfied), eat fruits and berries throughout the day and at night eat a good, delicious salad with some satisfying avocados, olives or other healthy live foods you like. If you get hungry in the middle of the day or at lunch time, eat some good nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts or pecans) or an avocado. But only few nuts and one avocado.
It is very common that you will get hungry the first two to three days. If you are losing discipline, eat a small portion of brown rice, but remember to drink plenty of liquid that day. The fibers in brown rice can help you eliminate toxins, but can block a constipated body, that is why the liquid is important. All fruits, berries and melons are great detoxifiers. Some fruits have more power than others (citrus fruits can help pull the toxins out of the body faster than other fruits, watermelon and grapes are pretty powerful detoxifiers as well). But most important step in this process is to eat the fruits you like and your body calls for.
For those that eat healthy already, but want to dig deeper, a fast on liquids only can be very effective. Here are many different methods to choose from. For example, has the Master Cleanse been very popular. It is easy to follow and is a very effective way to detox. It gives plenty of energy throughout the day, because of the syrup content in the drink. The only thing with this detox is that it can be a little boring because it consists of the same drink for 10 whole days. But it is a very effective way to clean your body and fun to do with friends and/or family members.
Another way to detox is with juices only. The juice can consist of both fruit and vegetable juices. Remember that fruits are the purifier of the body and vegetables are the builder. You can drink as much as you desire. One full glass every hour for 8 hours are a good predominant and should keep you energized and satisfied, just remember the first two days are for most people the most challenging and you will need to be extra discipline to yourself.
The disadvantage of this detox is that it can be expensive. Be wise and choose a time frame when fruits are in season and on sale. This is one of the best way to clean deep inside the bodies’ tissues and organs. I usually do not recommend less than five to seven day detox, and to go really deep into the tissues of the body I would recommend 10 days or more. But one or two days are better than none at all.
And then there is of course water fast, where you only drink water for certain amount of days. This kind of a cleanse can be very effective and very spiritual experience. But I would never recommend anybody to go on a water fast, that have never in their life fasted before, except they have been eating very healthy in a long time. If you are thinking about going on a long water fast, I would recommend you to do it with an expert and/or get your body checked before you start.
If you have decided to give detox a try, find a time in your calendar where you are not very busy. It is so important to give the body time to rest as well. Be aware that you can expect some discomfort in the beginning of every detox. This is a sign that your body is started to cleanse. I would recommend people that are dealing with diseases, older people or pregnant women to detox slowly and preferably under the guidance of a health practitioner.
After you have detoxed your body, it is very important to start slowly to eat again. Start by eating easily digestible food like, fruits, soups, cooked vegetables and brown rice.
Avoid for at least three days; meat, milk, sugar, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and other stimulates that can affect your body and mind, and can be hard for you to digest.
When you start to eat your regular foods again, observe how you feel after you have been eating it. Is this food giving you energy or stealing it from you? How does it affect your mood, do you feel light or heavy in your thoughts? Avoid everything that steals your energy and makes your mind feel heavy and tired and fill your body with those things that gives you energy.
